Notary Public for Property Abroad

Buying, selling or inheriting property in another country usually means signing documents in Ireland for use abroad. We prepare, notarise and send on the supporting documents so your transaction can proceed without you travelling.

Typical property matters

  • Powers of attorney allowing a lawyer or agent abroad to sign for you
  • Purchase and sale documents for holiday homes and investment property
  • Declarations and consents needed by foreign land registries or notaries
  • Inheritance and succession documents for property held overseas
  • Certified copies of identity documents requested by foreign banks

Working with your lawyer abroad

The lawyer or notary in the other country will usually send you the document to sign, often in two languages. We review it with you, confirm your identity and capacity to sign, and notarise it so it is accepted there.

Most property documents then need an apostille or consular legalisation. We will tell you which applies and can help arrange it, so the papers reach your lawyer ready to use.
